The Devil's Temptation of Jesus

“Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil, and after fasting forty days and forty days, he became hungry! The tempter came to Jesus and said, "If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become loaves of bread." [Matthew 4:1-3]

Why did the Holy Spirit lead Jesus into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil? And since Jesus is the sinless Son of God, why did he have to be tempted by the devil? Who can interpret these words correctly? In order to understand the above words accurately among Christians, it must be taught to those who have received the Spirit of Christ, not the Holy Spirit. When a person who has not received the Spirit of Christ interprets the Word, it is only the surface of the watermelon. Just as a son must reveal the inner circumstances of God in order to know the inner circumstances of God, in order to know the inner circumstances of Jesus, those who have received the Spirit of Christ must disclose it. However, it is absurd to interpret the words of the Bible by those who have not received the Spirit of Jesus Christ.

The three events of Jesus' battle with the devil are recorded in Matthew 4 as important as the events of Cain and Abel in Genesis 4. If Cain and Abel, direct descendants of Adam, showed in detail what attitude and heart they should have before God, the event in which Jesus overcame the temptation of the devil is how those who want to believe and follow Jesus overcome the temptation of the devil in the future. It tells you exactly where to go.

So, are the Christians who live under the law of the Holy Spirit today, like Jesus, have all passed these tests and come out? Among Christians, those who overcome all temptations of the devil like Jesus will wear the crown of life and enter the kingdom of heaven.

Even though Jesus was the sinless Son of God, why did he have to be tempted by the devil? This is because everyone in this world belongs to the devil. No matter how much Jesus is the Son of God, in order to begin his public life, he must go through the temptation of the devil, the ruler of the world. Even God does not ignore this hierarchy. In our opinion, it is possible to unconditionally destroy the devil and carry out the work of salvation, but in the world of spirits, such a hierarchical order is very important. Therefore, if he ignores this hierarchy, he must be expelled from the world of spirits as a transgressor. The reason Lucifer was expelled from the spiritual realm was because he broke this spiritual law. Although Jesus is the Son of Almighty God, it is only after he has legally destroyed the ruler of the world, the devil, that he can save mankind from sin.

God created all things in the world through His Word. Humans were also molded from clay and breathed into their noses to become living spirits. Unlike animals, the reason humans were created as spiritual beings is to communicate with God. But that fellowship was cut off because of Adam's sin. The one who caused Adam to sin is the devil who was cast out of heaven. The devil was originally an angel who was made good, but he was cast out into this world while trying to achieve equality with God. For a spiritual being to be cast out into the created world, it is the same as locking a criminal into a prison. Therefore, this world is nothing more than a prison built to judge the devil. After the devil was cast out from heaven, he became the king of this world, and unfortunately all human descendants of Adam were placed under the devil's feet and became his servants.

Just as Jesus had to go through the temptation of the devil before starting his public life, Christians today must win the battle (spiritual battle) with themselves in order to believe and follow Jesus. The Seven Amorites (Deuteronomy 7:1-2) who lived in the land of Canaan are now all in the corrupt human heart. Therefore, you must wage a fierce spiritual warfare with them. So the one who overcomes will eat and drink with the Lord, but the one who loses must fall into the devil's hand and serve as his servant. Those who know that they are sinners who have disobeyed the law of the Holy Spirit can easily come before Christ Jesus with their sins, but those who do not know that they are sinners and believe that they are saved by the Holy Spirit are deceived by the devil can't move forward. It is said that he lost the battle with himself over this.

It is easy for those who used to live as unbelievers to receive evangelism and believe in Jesus. As long as those who have received the evangelism call on the name of Jesus, God sends the Holy Spirit as a gift of grace to those who believe. This is a gift given as a price for the blood that Jesus shed on the cross. However, just because you have received the Holy Spirit, you do not immediately become the people of the kingdom of heaven. This is the process by which Christians become people of God.

Unlike Jews who received the law in the flesh, Christians are spiritual people of God who received the law of the Holy Spirit in their hearts. For spiritual people, all evil spirits are also hidden in their hearts. Just as the devil tempted Jesus with bread, power, and all the kingdoms under the world, Christians today will be tempted with money (wealth), reason (fornication), boasting (pride), and power (honor). No matter how many people have been filled with the Holy Spirit, they may be able to overcome this temptation for a while, but no one can overcome the temptation of the devil who walks through the test 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, 10 years, and 20 years without sleeping.

In order to overcome this temptation, we must cast away all the desires of the flesh. However, under the law of the Holy Spirit, human desires never disappear. Today, no matter how much you worship and fast in the name of Jesus, the desires of the flesh will rise again as time passes. This is because an evil spirit is always lurking in the corrupt heart of man. Evil spirits use the worldly things that humans like (money, lewdness, fame) to keep no one out of their grasp. These things dominate the hearts of Christians today, so they do not believe in the Son God sends.

Today, for Christians living according to the law of the Holy Spirit, no one can overcome the temptation of the devil and come out. Jesus wrote these words in Matthew 4 to show that “No one can overcome this temptation on their own, so everyone must believe in me and be born again as Christ to overcome these temptations and come out.” So, as soon as Jesus began his public ministry, he was personally tempted by Satan. However, if you do not know this fact and unconditionally believe in Jesus and receive only the Holy Spirit, if you think that anyone can overcome these tests and come out, their nose will be seriously injured. It is because Christ was in Paul's heart that the Apostle Paul was able to overcome all trials and go the Lord's way to the end, even though he had to go through the hurdles of death several times after meeting Jesus.

On the other hand, today's Christians live their lives without feeling guilty even after rebelling against the Holy Spirit because their sense of sin has been dulled. However, just as God counts every single hair of a human being, He also counts all the sins of mankind. The reason God counts sins is so that no one can make excuses for their sins before God. This is the difference between God's view of sin and man's view of sin.

The most fearful enemy for Christians is myself. Because there is an evil spirit in my heart, depending on how I make up my mind, I may or may not believe in Christ who comes as the Spirit. So, in the book of Revelation, in all the letters to the seven churches, it is written that only the one who overcomes the battle with himself can become the master of the kingdom of heaven. Conversely, the one who loses the battle against himself must become the servant of the victor and live as a servant of the devil forever.

“To him who overcomes I will give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.”  [Revelation 2:7]

“The one who overcomes will be clothed in white clothes like this, and I will by no means blot out his name from the book of life; I will put his name before my Father and his   I will confess before the angels” [Revelation 3:5]

“To him who overcomes, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sit with him on my father’s throne.”

  [Revelation 3:21]

“Though I give them freedom, they themselves are slaves to destruction; whoever loses becomes a slave to the overcomer” [2 Peter 2-19]
