The Devil and the Fall of Man

Luciel becomes arrogant, corrupts and becomes a devil

God exists in Himself and was not created by anyone else. Before God created all things in the universe, He first created the world of spirits in heaven, and made angels as His first creatures. They were created to be without deficiency, and each was given a task assigned to them. If any of the angels were found greedy or arrogant, he would be immediately regarded as a transgressor and punished. Luciel is the angel who was closest to God and offered praise to God. Then he became arrogant and tried to claim equality with God, but was expelled from there.

“From the day you were created all your ways were perfect, and at last iniquity was revealed” [Ezekiel 28:15]

“Keimyungseong, son of the morning, how did you fall from heaven, you who overthrew the nations, how you were cut down to the ground, you say in your heart, I will ascend to heaven, and I will exalt my throne above the stars of God. I will sit on top” [Isaiah 14:12-13]

Even though Luciel was a perfectly created being, he misused his will and fell and became Lucifer (the devil). Seeing the fall of angels, people ask these questions. “If we had made the angels like robots, wouldn’t they have fallen?” Then God becomes a greedy dictator. How can a dictator be said to be good? The place where Lucifer was kicked out is this vast space in which we now live. It is a disgrace for a spiritual being to live in a physical space. Therefore, this outer space is nothing more than a prison built to trap the devil and judge him. God was already preparing His Son at that time to judge the devil. It was because there was no other way to catch the devil except for his son.

Adam and Eve's Sin and Human Destiny

No matter how good a creature is, the moment it leaves God, it turns into a demon. This is just like the darkness that comes after the light disappears. Likewise, humans become servants of the devil the moment they leave God. When angels fall, they become more terrifying and dangerous than humans because they use the immense power that they were given from God when they were first created for evil purposes.

God immediately expelled the fallen Lucifer from the spirit realm and imprisoned him in outer space. The outer space in which we live is the lowest place in the spirit world, and it is a hell-like place. In such a place, Lucifer and his minions (angels), who had fallen from heaven, were imprisoned. In fact, if Lucifer had not fallen from the spirit realm, this universe would not have been created. If outer space was not necessary, there would be no reason to create humans.

“And he imprisoned in darkness the angels with everlasting bonds until the judgment of the great day” [Jude 1:6]

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth, and the earth was formless and empty, and darkness was over the deep, and the Spirit of God was on the waters” [Genesis 1:1-2]

In our opinion, we might think that we should immediately throw away the Lucifer and his crew, who were trying to achieve equality with God, or why Almighty God would create this outer space to imprison Lucifer and also create humans to make things cumbersome. . However, God does not unconditionally punish someone just because they have committed a sin. Even in the human world, when a person commits a sin, the existence of the sin is determined through several trial processes. How much more can a great God judge anyone without carefully examining the existence of a sin?

First, God built the Garden of Eden in the huge space of the universe in order to more clearly examine whether Lucifer was guilty of sin, and created human beings as spiritual beings in the image of God and allowed them to live there. It was not good for a man to be alone, so God took a man's rib, made a woman, and took him as his wife. Also, God planted various trees in the Garden of Eden and told Adam and Eve to eat from all the trees, but not from the fruit of good and evil in the center of the garden.

“And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, From any tree of the garden you may eat freely, but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you will surely die.” [Genesis 2:16-17]

However, Lucifer, who has already turned into a demon, approaches humans and tempts them to eat the forbidden fruit. Judging that it is easier to attack women than men, the devil approaches the woman and persuades her to eat the fruit. In other words, when the devil knew that there were spiritual beings in the Garden of Eden, he immediately approached humans through the serpent and lied that he would not die even if he ate the tree of knowledge that God said if he ate it, he would die.

Although God knew all of this, He did not force Eve to eat the forbidden fruit by limiting her free will (Genesis 2:16-17). Because God clearly said that if you eat it, you will die, so this is the end of what he said once. Whether to keep the word or not depends on the choice of the creature. Life or death is decided by one's choices. Human beings have also been given free will, so whether they eat the fruit or not, it is the human responsibility. When the woman who had fallen into the devil's temptation did not take her own life even after eating the fruit, she reported it to the man, and the man also listened to the woman without any doubt and began to eat the fruit (Genesis 3:16).

Human beings who fell into the devil's guile disobeyed God's word according to their own will and listened to the devil's words, and the result was disastrous. It is because a single wrong choice has plunged the entire human race into the abyss of evil. However, this too is a good thing from the perspective of God's plan. This is because the devil has revealed his true identity (evil deeds) more openly by making humans sin.

When God said that he would die if he ate the tree of knowledge, he meant that the human spirit would die, and the devil said that he would not die even if he ate of the tree of knowledge (Genesis 3:4). As a human being who was unaware of this fact, after eating the fruit of the forbidden fruit, the body did not die, so they regarded the word of God as a lie. The saying that human eyes were opened by eating the forbidden fruit means that when sin entered humans, they were ashamed to see themselves naked (Genesis 3:7).

To say that humans were created in the image of God means that humans were created as spiritual beings, unlike animals. Animals have only souls and have no spirit, so they have no mind. Therefore, animals do not go to hell after death. However, since human beings are spiritual beings, the afterlife awaits them, and after death, they must be judged according to the sins they committed while they were alive.

“It is appointed unto man once to die, and after that comes judgment” [Hebrews 9:27]

“If the first humans, Adam and Eve, were made like robots, wouldn’t they also not have eaten the forbidden fruit?” A really plausible idea. But why did God create humans, and why did he put the fruit of the knowledge of the knowledge of the knowledge of the knowledge of knowledge and evil in front of them and tell them not to eat them? If we do not know the reason, the problem of human salvation will never be solved. Many people today believe that God created man to be glorified. However, this is a statement of ignorance of God's providence.

Humans who ate the tree of knowledge were cut off from all spiritual exchanges with God from this point on, and all humans after that became Satan's servants. However, because the devil lied that he would not die even if he ate the tree of knowledge that God said that he would die if he ate it, he became a person who challenged God head-on. Also, the devil proved that he was a liar under the world, and he committed an even greater sin against God.

It is truly a pity that all human beings fell into the devil's enchantment and lived as Satan's servants. However, God had no choice but to use a human who resembled God's image in order to reveal the devil's sin more clearly. We shouldn't be too surprised that we humans were used to catch the devil. God also used His Son to slay the devil. Because we humans were used to judge the devil, God also gave them the great gift of salvation.

“He who sins is of the devil, and the devil sins from the beginning, because the Son of God was revealed to destroy the works of the devil” [1 John 3:8]

After the devil was cast out of heaven, he became the king of this world. After Adam fell into the devil, unfortunately, all human beings have been put under the feet of the devil. God planned to send His Son into this world to destroy the devil and save humans from their sins (Genesis 3:16). But before God sent His Son into the world, He established a nation called Israel and gave them laws to live under them for two thousand years.

The reason God gave the law to the people of Israel was not to keep the law to be justified, but to make them realize their sins (Romans 3:20). However, the devil, who had control over humans, deceived the Israelites again that they could be justified by the law. On the other hand, he continued to accuse those who broke the law to God, and he slandered them so that they would be cursed by God (Job 1:9-12). Because of this, the people of Israel, who broke the law, fell ill with God's curse.

God does not immediately judge the devil because he deceived man. In order to legally catch the devil, he needed more solid evidence of iniquity, which the devil could not cling to. That snare is the law given to the people of Israel. The law is a law that no one can keep, and the Jews must realize their sins through the law. However, the devil, who was in control of man, was using his servants to teach that man could be made righteous through the law. False prophets are used here.

In order to save those who have fallen from the law from their sins, God sent His Son to the land of Israel in due time as promised. But the devil motivated those who were justified by the law so that they could not believe that Jesus was a fake. Religious leaders at the time misinterpreted the prophet's writings and believed that when the Messiah came, they would be set free from the feet of Rome. However, the Jews, who had already fallen into Satan's temptation and believed that they were all saved by the law, did not accept Jesus as the Son of God.

The more zealous they were before God, the deeper they fell into Satan's affair. When he saw that Jesus, who came as the Messiah, did not defeat the Roman army, but rather ate and drank with sinners who even Jews avoid being unclean, he judged, “This man is not the Messiah, but the chief of heresy,” and took Jesus to the Roman army. It was handed over to him and eventually led to death on the cross.

It seems that the Jews killed Jesus, but in reality, the devil, who had control over humans, killed Jesus. But Jesus rose from the dead on the third day. As a result, the devil became a murderer who killed an innocent man (Jesus) and was punished with eternal punishment. When the Son of God appeared on this earth, he ultimately came to judge the devil. In the end, the devil who killed Jesus was expelled from his position as the ruler of the world and became a lawless man. However, even now, the devil is still hiding behind humans and is clouding the minds of Christians by saying that they are saved by manipulating the evil spirit that is dominating the hearts of Christians.

There are many ways the devil can deceive humans. Among them, the most effective method is to deceive believers that they have been saved by the Holy Spirit (Law). The devil used the same method with the Jews. As Christians, no one knows that the Holy Spirit acts as their 'spiritual law'. Therefore, even if Christians keep telling lies that they have been saved by the Holy Spirit, they have no choice but to believe it because they have never met Christ. The devil puts forward the Trinity logic to Christians so that they see the Holy Spirit and the Spirit of Christ as the same Spirit. From this fact, we can see that even the devil is struggling to keep believers from being deprived of Christ.
